Staff Spotlight: ED
ED joined Sustainable Northwest after a career that spanned both the private sector and the nonprofit world. With a background in environmental planning and a passion for collaborative problem-solving, ED brings a practical, results-oriented approach to the organization’s work. Before coming to Sustainable Northwest, ED worked as a consultant helping rural communities develop economic diversification strategies tied to their natural resource base.
In their current role, ED focuses on program development and partnership building, helping Sustainable Northwest identify new opportunities to expand its impact across the region. ED has been instrumental in forging relationships with federal agencies, state programs, and philanthropic partners that have helped the organization scale its work in wildfire recovery, community forestry, and clean energy.
ED is a firm believer in the power of place-based solutions. “The best ideas do not come from headquarters in Portland,” ED says. “They come from the people who live and work in the communities we serve. Our job is to listen, learn, and then bring the resources and expertise to help those ideas become reality.”
When not working, ED enjoys backpacking in the Wallowa Mountains, reading about the history of the American West, and coaching a youth soccer team. ED holds degrees in environmental science and business administration from Portland State University and the University of Washington, respectively.
